Conal Harpur
Conal Harpur is originally from County Meath and moved to Clontarf in 2010 years ago before settling in Castleknock in 2016.
Conal studied Mental Health Nursing in Trinity College Dublin and graduated in 2013. He has worked in St James’s Hospital Acute Psychiatric Unit where he also worked in the Psychology Department with the Adult Mental Health Services Community Psychology Department. Conal has completed Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Following this Conal began research with Trinity College Dublin and a Consultant Psychiatrist in St James’s Hospital to develop an interactive educational tool to teach other Mental Health Professionals the skills and knowledge required to practice high standard Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
In addition to his studies and professional life Conal has been involved with Olympic Lifting during his time in Trinity where he also took up playing chess. Conal is also a keen golfer that plays regularly in a local club with a view to establishing and strengthening his ties to the local Castleknock community.
While studying his Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Trinity College Dublin Conal became interested in Anxiety and Depressive Disorders. This interest blossomed into a passion for the understanding, assessment and treatment of these disorders to help clients minimise the distress they suffer and to increase the quality of life that they deserve. Conal has treated multiple cases of OCD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic and Phobias as well as Depressive Episodes. Conal has recently began work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Perinatal Mental Health where he treats clients with Mental Health Problems associated with Pregnancy.
